Max Muncy Reacts to Walk-Off HR in 3-HR Game, Watch Highlights from Dodgers' Epic Win
Max Muncy put a slow start to the 2026 MLB season behind him in spectacular fashion with three homers, including a walk-off, for the Los Angeles Dodgers in Friday's 8-7 win over the Texas Rangers.
The two-time All-Star became the first player with three homers, including a walk-off blast, in a game since Jack Suwinski for the Pittsburgh Pirates on June 19, 2022.
"I still think about the first time I did it," Muncy told reporters after the win. "To get the win on top of it, it's great."
Friday marked the second three-homer game of Muncy's career. He previously accomplished the feat on May 4, 2024, in an 11-2 win over the Atlanta Braves.
Muncy moved past Dodgers legend Steve Garvey into sixth place on the franchise's all-time home-run list with his second blast against the Rangers.
"Garvey is kind of a Dodger icon, the way he carried himself, the way he played the game, just a model of consistency," Muncy said. "He really embodied what being a Dodger was, and so to pass him, it's something that's really, really special to me. Hopefully, I can keep climbing."
This season wasn't going great for Muncy prior to Friday night. He entered the game hitting .216/.326/.297 with one homer in 43 plate appearances over his first 11 games.
After going 4-for-5 against the Rangers, Muncy's season slash line spiked to .286/.375/.571. His 13 total bases are the most in a game so far in 2026.
Muncy's heroics in the bottom of the ninth came after Edwin DĂaz blew his first save as a member of the Dodgers by allowing three runs in the top of the ninth.
The Dodgers own MLB's best record at 10-3 entering play on Saturday.
