Sky Reportedly Sign Azura Stevens to Contract, Trade for Jacy Sheldon After Angel Reese-Dream Deal

Adam WellsApr 11, 2026

After trading Angel Reese to the Atlanta Dream earlier in the week, the Chicago Sky made their first big addition in free agency by bringing back Azurá Stevens.

Per ESPN's Alexa Philippou, Stevens will sign a three-year deal to return to Chicago after spending the past three seasons with the Los Angeles Sparks.

Meanwhile, Philippou also reported that the Sky acquired guard Jacy Sheldon in exchange for a 2028 first-round pick.

Stevens is the second notable move for the Sky in free agency. ESPN's Chiney Ogwumike reported on Friday that Elizabeth Williams was retained on a two-year, $1.2 million deal.

The Reese trade was a bold move for the franchise given her popularity and performance. She made the All-Star team in each of her first two seasons, but also questioned the organization's commitment to being successful and challenged the front office to "get good players."

Trading Reese brought back two first-round draft picks in 2027 and 2028 for the Sky to use as building blocks.

Stevens also brings a lot of credibility, as well as familiarity with the franchise. She was originally drafted by the Dallas Wings with the sixth pick in 2018 and spent her first two years with the club before being traded to Chicago in February 2020.

The UConn alum was part of the 2021 Sky team that won the WNBA championship. She averaged 9.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in 78 appearances over three seasons with Chicago from 2020 to '22.

Stevens left the Sky as a free agent to join the Sparks prior to the 2023 season. She is coming off the best year of her career in 2025, averaging 12.8 points and 8.0 rebounds per game in 44 starts. She was the runner-up in Most Improved Player voting, finishing behind Veronica Burton of the Golden State Valkyries.

The Sky will slot in Stevens as one of their starting forwards.

Sheldon, the fifth overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, will now be on her fourth team in three seasons. After spending her rookie season with the Dallas Wings, she split time between the Connecticut Sun and Mystics last year.

The 25-year-old averaged 7.5 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 2025.

Chicago will open the regular season against the Portland Fire at Moda Center on May 9.
