NFL Draft 2026 Scouting Report for NC State CB Devon Marshall

Daniel HarmsApr 16, 2026

Devon Marshall was the NCAA leader in passes defensed in 2025, showcasing his uncanny ability to disrupt passes at the catch point.

A former walk-on at Villanova and a 3-star transfer to NC State, he racked up 83 tackles (59 solo), four interceptions, 26 passes defensed, and two forced fumbles in two seasons for the Wolfpack.

The work ethic, competitiveness, and toughness at the catch point will be valuable assets in his transition to the NFL.

Dan has covered the Kansas City Chiefs and the NFL Draft since 2019 while contributing for RGR Football. Most recently, he spent the 2025 draft cycle at The Draft Network and is entering his first season in our scouting department.

Where He Wins

1 of 4
NC State v Pittsburgh

— Marshall is an instinctive and competitive catch point player who reads the receiver's hands and body language when trailing well.

— A versatile coverage player, his route recognition in zone stands out, and he plays with good instincts and depth.

— Physicality shows in a press-man alignment, through the route, and as a run defender.

Areas of Improvement

2 of 4
Florida State v NC State

— Marshall is a lacking athlete which snows up in his stiff transitions, explosiveness, and recovery speed.

— Relies on physicality in man coverage and will grab receivers when he's stacked vertically.

— He plays the catchpoint downfield, but doesn't get his head around. A lack of length and ball tracking will show up against NFL talent.

— Can be an overaggressive pursuit player as a tackler with poor angles, which leads to missed tackles.
