The game started out great for the Mets, with Nolan McLean allowing just two hits through 6.1 innings. Jose Fernandez's single with one out in the sixth chased the rookie right-hander from the game.
New York's bullpen imploded from there. Luke Weaver gave up a game-tying double to the first batter he faced. Tim Tawa drove in the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly, followed by an RBI triple from Jorge Barrosa.
Things didn't get better for the Mets in the top of the eighth. Luis Garcia allowed all five hitters he faced to reach base, resulting in three runs for Arizona.
The D-Backs won their series in Queens by taking the last two games after the Mets won Monday's opener. New York will look to bounce back when it opens a three-game series against the Athletics at Citi Field on Friday.
