Zach BacharApr 9, 2026

Notre Dame standout guard Hannah Hidalgo reportedly won't be experiencing a change of scenery.

According to ESPN's Michael Voepel, Hidalgo will return to the Fighting Irish for her senior season and has "no intention" of transferring. The reigning ACC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year isn't eligible for the WNBA draft yet.

The women's college basketball transfer portal opened on Monday.

Hidalgo is coming off another stellar season with Notre Dame, helping the team finish with a 25-11 record while advancing to the Elite Eight of the 2026 NCAA tournament.

It represented the longest March Madness run for the Fighting Irish since 2019.

Hidalgo ranked No. 3 in the country with her average of 25.3 points per game and led the nation by recording an impressive 5.6 steals on a nightly basis. She also averaged 6.9 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game while shooting 47.5 percent from the field.

The 21-year-old became the first player in Notre Dame history to win the Naismith Women's Defensive Player of the Year award.

While the Fighting Irish suffered a lopsided 70-52 defeat at the hands of UConn in the Elite Eight, their 2026-27 outlook is extremely promising.

Notre Dame will be bringing in a recruiting class that ranked No. 3 among all schools during the 2026 cycle, per 247Sports' composite rankings.

With Hidalgo back in the mix, expectations are high for the Fighting Irish.
