Diamond Miller Traded to Sun from Wings, Salary Cap Impact Amid 2026 WNBA Free Agency
The Dallas Wings traded forward Diamond Miller to the Connecticut Sun in exchange for center Rayah Marshall, the team announced Thursday.
The Sun will now look to build around Miller as they hope to fully unlock her potential, per ESPN's Alexa Philippou.

According to Myah Taylor of the Dallas Morning News, the Wings will save at least $259,088 in cap space following the move. They can also save the entire $536,658 of Miller's contract if they don't retain Marshall following training camp.
Miller was initially selected by the Minnesota Lynx with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 WNBA draft, as she was coming off a college career at Maryland in which she helped the Terrapins capture two Big Ten tournament titles.
She averaged 12.1 points and 3.5 rebounds in 26.1 minutes per game as a rookie, although she appeared in just 21 games during her sophomore season due to knee surgery.
Miller struggled to carve out a consistent role in Minnesota's rotation last year, as she was eventually traded to Dallas as part of a swap headlined by DiJonai Carrington in Aug. 2025.
The 25-year-old averaged 4.0 points and 1.3 rebounds per game on 40.3/33.3/76.1 shooting splits across 40 combined contests with the Lynx and Wings during the 2025 season.
Meanwhile, Connecticut added Marshall in the second round of the 2025 WNBA draft.
She appeared in 15 games as a rookie, scoring 25 points in 90 total minutes of action while shooting 9-of-26 from the field.
Marshall is still just 22 years old and could earn more playing time on a Wings squad looking to build around star point guard Paige Bueckers.
