The new City Connect jerseys feature the word "Pirates" as opposed to the previous "PGH" wordmark in addition to a Jolly Roger patch on the shoulder.

The Pirates are set to debut the new uniforms on Friday, April 17 during a home game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Bucs are then set to continue wearing the uniforms during Friday night home games, including upcoming matchups against the Cincinnati Reds (May 1), Philadelphia Phillies (May 15) and Minnesota Twins (May 29).

City Connect jerseys first made their way to Pittsburgh in 2023 with uniforms featuring blocky letters meant to represent the structure of the city's bridges and a patch of the club's "P" on the sleeve.

The latest edition of the Pirates' City Connect uniforms features the wordmark in a font the club described as "a classic, rugged pirate style."

The wordmark is still meant to represent the city's bridges with the arches at the base of the letters, which mirror the design of Pittsburgh's three sister bridges including the Roberto Clemente Bridge, according to the team.

The patch on the sleeve features the letters PGH alongside the year 1887, the club's first year in the National League back when the team was referred to as the Pittsburgh Alleghenys.

The Jolly Roger is also featured on the two caps released with the design, one of which is primarily gold and the other which matches the uniform's all-black theme.

The MLB and Nike introduced City Connect jerseys to baseball in 2021. The Pirates joined the Reds, Atlanta Braves, Baltimore Orioles, Kansas City Royals, Milwaukee Brewers, San Diego Padres and Texas Rangers as one of the eight MLB clubs debuting their latest editions of the uniforms Thursday.
