New 49ers Rumors Reveal Position 'Heavily Connected' to SF by Rival Teams in Mock Draft Exercises

The San Francisco 49ers could be eyeing using their first-round pick to add another target for Brock Purdy, according to ESPN's Matt Miller.

Miller wrote Thursday his conversations with people around the NFL have led him to feel "the 49ers don't necessarily view offensive tackle as a Round 1 priority."

"Instead, they have been heavily connected to wide receivers by teams when running through mock draft exercises," Miller wrote.

Miller named Texas A&M's KC Concepcion as "a name to watch" heading into the Niners' draft.

The latest Bleacher Report 2026 NFL mock draft similarly projects that 49ers will select Concepcion with the No. 27 pick.

"KC Concepcion is one of the draft's most dynamic receivers. He feels like a seamless fit for Kyle Shanahan's West Coast offense," B/R NFL scout Damian Parson wrote.

Parson added, "Concepcion is great in space by using his playmaking ability from multiple alignments to create coverage mismatches. He is an easy separator and a three-level threat for quarterback Brock Purdy to attack man and zone coverages."

Concepcion started out his college career with two seasons at North Carolina State before transferring to Texas A&M ahead of the 2025 season.

He is listed as the No. 16 overall prospect on Bleacher Report's big board after posting 919 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns in 13 games as a junior.

The 49ers already added another option for Purdy this offseason by bringing in Mike Evans and Christian Kirk in free agency.

Evans, Kirk and Ricky Pearsall have all struggled with recent injury issues, however, and Kirk is set to play this season on a one-year deal. Adding another wideout in the draft could give the Niners some injury insurance while helping the team build for their future with Purdy.

The 49ers are set to select six players, including four in the fourth round, when the 2026 NFL draft kicks off starting April 23 in Pittsburgh.
