Cameron Brink 'Happy' for Angel Reese After WNBA Star's Trade to Dream From Sky
Cameron Brink is happy for her fellow 2024 WNBA draftee.
"I'm happy for her," the Los Angeles Sparks star said of Angel Reese after the Chicago Sky traded the latter to the Atlanta Dream. "I feel like she's going to love Atlanta, it's a great city. That's going to be a really tough team to play against."
According to Annie Costabile of Front Office Sports, the Sky traded Reese and a 2028 second-round pick swap to the Dream in exchange for Atlanta's 2027 and 2028 first-round picks.
Reese took to social media in reaction to the trade:
The LSU product turned heads in September when she told Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune the Sky "have to get good players."
Costabile then reported "there is a belief among some sources that Reese's future in Chicago may not be reparable" after the comments. Reese ended up publicly apologizing to her teammates, but she was ultimately traded before the 2026 season.
Perhaps Atlanta will be something of a fresh start for the 6'3" big, who was an All-Star in each of her two seasons with the Sky after they selected her with the No. 7 overall pick of the 2024 draft. That was just five picks after the Sparks drafted Brink at No. 2 overall.
Atlanta is coming off three straight playoff appearances and now has one of the league's best rebounders in the frontcourt following this trade.
Brink will surely be matched up against Reese at times as a fellow frontcourt player, and her comments made it clear she believes the Dream will be more difficult to deal with moving forward after this trade.
