Two-time major winner Justin Thomas wasted no time getting Wednesday's first ace. Playing in the first group with Jordan Spieth and Max Homa, he found the bottom of the cup on No. 2.
Given both his celebration and immediate comments after holing out, Thomas appears to have made a friendly wager with Spieth and Homa.
As he tries to win his first green jacket, Bryson DeChambeau had a notable face on the bag. He enlisted the services of actor and comedian Kevin Hart as his caddy:
DeChambeau may want a more seasoned pro once he tackles the regulation course at Augusta National.
A lot of eyes were on Frankie Fleetwood, the son of Tommy Fleetwood.
Last year, Frankie created a viral moment with his matter-of-fact response on his approach to the No. 9 hole. He said he was trying to carry the green.
No question loomed larger than how much distance he has since added off the tee.
His dad provided some inspiration when he aced No. 4:
Frankie's game is coming along. His high-arcing drive traveled much further but fell just short of landing in the rough and avoiding the water. Nobody questioned the effort.
The Par 3 Contest historically signals the impending arrival of the full Masters tournament.
The opening round will get underway at 7:40 a.m. ET, when John Keefer and Haotong Li approach the first tee. Shortly before that, past champions Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Tom Watson will serve as the honorary starters.
