Todd Monken Says 'I Don't Give a S--t' About Criticism of Missing NFL HCs Photo for Haircut

Julia StumbaughApr 8, 2026

Cleveland Browns coach Todd Monken apparently isn't interested in taking the blame for missing a NFL head coach group photo while getting a haircut during last week's annual league meeting in Phoenix.

"I really don't give s--t. I mean, it had nothing to do with me," Monken told reporters Wednesday. "I mean, they moved the meeting. I didn't miss it. I was just trying to get a sweet haircut. I mean, that's what I was trying to do. And then they moved the meeting.

Monken continued, "Was it disappointing? You bet your ass it was disappointing. Head coach, I'm not in the head coaches picture. You'd think with AI they could've done that quickly and gotten me in there.

"But no, that's the way it is. It'll be under the bridge, and what will matter most is how we move from here and do we win or not."

Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot initially reported the coaches' photo was missing Monken and the Los Angeles Rams' Sean McVay because it was taken about 20 minutes earlier than planned.

Monken told Cabot he had skipped a coaches meeting specifically to get a haircut.

"He said thought he had it timed up perfectly, because the photo was scheduled for noon Pacific time. It was even written on the agenda that way," Cabot wrote.

Monken was then told by Jacksonville Jaguars coach Liam Coen on his way to the photo that the meeting had ended early and the photo had already been taken, per Cabot.

This isn't the first time McVay, who was also not pictured in the 2019 edition of the photo, has missed the event.

It was, however, the first opportunity for Monken, who has not served as a head coach since his time with Southern Mississippi from 2013 to 2015.

Monken went on to spend offensive coordinator with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens before getting his first shot at NFL head coaching in his return to Cleveland.

The first-year head coach was faced with a few tough questions during Wednesday's media availability, including about Myles Garrett's absence from the start of Cleveland's offseason program and whether Deshaun Watson will start next season despite not seeing NFL action since 2024.

Monken said he was "not worried about Garrett," noting that activities were voluntary and that it was "our job to make it to where the guys want to be here."

He also told reporters he does not have an already-established quarterback depth chart in mind, and that which signal caller is getting first-team reps could change down the stretch of the offseason.
