Cody Rhodes Crowns Hulk Hogan vs. The Rock WWE's GOAT Match in New Video from Netflix Series

In a clip released Monday from the upcoming Netflix docuseries Hulk Hogan: Real American, WWE champion Cody Rhodes tabbed an iconic Hogan bout as the greatest match in pro wrestling history.

Rhodes named Hogan vs. The Rock from WrestleMania 18 in Toronto as the best match he has ever seen, saying, "WrestleMania 18. I will go on record, it's the greatest WrestleMania match of all time. It's the greatest match of all time. It's simple. It's the story of the old lion, the young lion."

When Hogan and The Rock locked horns at WrestleMania 18 in 2002, it was a dream match that became reality, as it featured two of the best from their respective eras battling for supremacy.

Hogan had only recently returned to WWE at the time following a lengthy stint in WCW, and he entered WrestleMania 18 as a heel due to his status as the leader of the nWo.

Conversely, The Rock was a beloved babyface known as "The People's Champion," but the people somewhat surprisingly sided with Hogan that night.

The majority of the live crowd cheered for Hogan and booed The Rock, creating one of the most unique, memorable and electric atmospheres in WWE history.

While The Rock won the match in a passing-of-the-torch moment, fans still got to show their love for Hogan, as The Rock saved Hogan from an attack at the hands of Scott Hall and Kevin Nash, and then gave Hogan the stage to do his signature poses, much to the delight of the fans in attendance.

Nobody will ever confuse the actual in-ring work produced by Hogan and The Rock as a typical "five-star classic," but the match and its meaning went far beyond the moves.

The crowd made everything matter, and both Hogan and The Rock fed into it by playing to the crowd, letting things breathe and building up to big moments throughout.

Because of that, Hogan vs. The Rock from WrestleMania 18 is still remembered fondly today, and it is among the favorite matches of many fans, and even wrestlers such as Rhodes.

Hulk Hogan: Real American will officially drop on Netflix on April 22, featuring content from Hogan's final interview before his death last year, and commentary from many current and former wrestlers, including Rhodes.
