Watch Massive Angels, Braves Brawl on Video as Punches Thrown After Benches Clear
Tensions boiled over during Tuesday's matchup between the Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Angels.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Angels outfielder Jorge Soler rushed the mound and began throwing punches at Braves pitcher Reynaldo López. It then turned into an all-out brawl with both teams' dugouts clearing.

Soler was up to bat when he and López began exchanging a few words, though it's unclear who started the back and forth or what was said. López then prepared to pitch to Soler, but he was already on his way up to the mound.
Soler appeared to throw the first punch, but López was quick to respond with one of his own. Both players were ejected after the dust settled. López finished his outing with seven strikeouts while allowing three hits, two runs and two walks in 4.2 innings.
Soler previously homered off of López in the first inning, and López later hit Soler with a pitch in his second at-bat. Clearly, Soler took offense to being hit by the pitch and decided to confront López.
Soler has been especially dominant against López in his career, hitting five home runs off of him, his most against any MLB pitcher.
Soler has been a beloved figure by Braves fans, as he won World Series MVP in 2021 after being traded to Atlanta in the middle of the season. Soler also spent the second half of the 2024 season with the Braves after being traded by the San Francisco Giants, so he and López spent a short time as teammates.
Whether the two players had a good relationship before is unclear, but they clearly have some bad blood now.
