One of the most notable names in all of college basketball now knows her professional destination.

The Dallas Wings selected UConn star Azzi Fudd with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 WNBA draft on Monday. Here is a look at where she fits into the team's starting lineup and overall depth chart:

While Fudd dealt with injury problems early in her collegiate career that limited her to 15 games in 2022-23 and two games in 2023-24, she established herself as one of the faces of the sport during the last two seasons.

First, she helped lead the Huskies to the national championship alongside Paige Bueckers during the 2024-25 campaign and then assumed the role of the team's star player in 2025-26. All she did in that role was average 17.3 points per game as a First-Team All-American while leading UConn to an undefeated regular season and Big East regular season and tournament crowns.

The Huskies ended up losing in shocking fashion to South Carolina in the Final Four, but it was still a brilliant season for Fudd and her teammates.

The guard was a driving force behind the success and led the nation by connecting on 44.7 percent of her three-point attempts. It was her second straight year leading the country in three-point percentage, and she did so this past season as the focal point of opposing defenses.

Fudd's shooting ability is what immediately stands out, and she proved she can take advantage of openings when opponents collapse on her teammates while playing with Bueckers while also maintaining an excellent percentage when she is the go-to option.

That overall versatility will help her make an immediate impact at the WNBA level, but she is more than just a shooter.

Fudd can attack the lane off the bounce, run the offense as a ball-handler if necessary and play a facilitating role at times. Her defense is also notable, as she averaged 2.5 steals per game in her final season with UConn.

Few players in this WNBA draft are better positioned to contribute right away at the next level than Fudd, and she is now one of the faces of her new franchise following this pick.
