Regarding her impending move to Atlanta, Reese said she's "excited for this new journey and this new city."
The 23-year-old ended the 2025 season on a sour note. She didn't appear in any of the Sky's final four games, and she received a half-game suspension after offering public criticism of the organization and how the roster was constructed.
Still, Reese's exit came as a shock because of how quietly and quickly the deal came together. ESPN's Kendra Andrews and Alexa Philippou reported she didn't formally request a trade. Instead, Chicago appeared to initiate things as part of a larger "revamp."
The Dream tied for the WNBA's second-best record (30-14) in 2025 and made the playoffs for the third straight season. That's a welcome contrast to the Sky winning 23 games over the past two years.
Naz Hillmon totally transformed her game in Karl Smesko's offense en route to winning Sixth Player of the Year as well. After attempting six three-pointers during her first three years, the 6'2" forward knocked down 53 threes and morphed into a stretch big.
Smesko might be just the coach who can extend Reese's scoring range, which has consistently been one of the bigger critiques of her game.
The former LSU has already had a historic start to her pro career. Landing in Atlanta could help propel her to the next level.
