Several recent winners of the green jacket are part of the field, including the reigning Masters champion in Rory McIlroy.
The 36-year-old from Northern Ireland needed a playoff last year to outlast Justin Rose and win the Masters for the first time in his career. McIlroy also completed the career grand slam with the victory.
While McIlroy went on to help Europe defeat the United States in the Ryder Cup this past September, he is still in search of his first PGA Tour win since his Masters triumph last year.
Perhaps the biggest competition standing in McIlroy's way is two-time Masters champ Scottie Scheffler.
Scheffler won the green jacket in 2022 and 2024, and he was in the mix again last year, finishing fourth.
Although the 29-year-old American was unable to secure his third green jacket in 2025, he did go on to win the PGA Championship and Open Championship, giving him four career major titles, and bringing him a U.S. Open title away from the career grand slam.
If Scheffler wins, he will have a new family member on hand to celebrate with, as his wife, Meredith, gave birth to a baby boy on March 27.
According to the Associated Press (h/t ESPN), Scheffler's newborn son was spotted at Augusta National on Sunday, just nine days after his birth.
Other past winners to keep an eye on as potential contenders include Jon Rahm, Hideki Matsuyama, Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed and Jordan Spieth.
In terms of golfers who are looking to earn their first green jacket, Bryson DeChambeau, Ludvig Åberg, Xander Schauffele, Tommy Fleetwood, Cameron Young and Matt Fitzpatrick are among the top contenders.
Fittingly, DeChambeau, Schauffele and Fitzpatrick will all be featured in the same group.
The 2026 Masters will run from Thursday through Sunday at Augusta National. Fans can watch the first two rounds on ESPN and Prime Video, and the final two rounds on CBS and Paramount+.
