South Bay was in control for most of the fourth quarter, but Stockton managed to cut the lead to just two points around the three-minute mark. From there, the Kings took the lead on a jump shot from DaQuan Jeffries.
After some back and forth, the game was tied heading into the final minute. Stockton regained the lead on a putback dunk from Gabe Levin with just 20 seconds remaining.
That clutch basket proved to be the decider as South Bay couldn't answer, and the Kings iced the game at the line.
DaQuan Jeffries, who went undrafted in 2019, led the way for Stockton, posting 27 points and five assists. Dexter Dennis added 19 points and Jameer Nelson Jr., son of former NBA player Jameer Nelson, put up 18 points off the bench.
R.J. Davis, who signed with South Bay after going undrafted in 2025, had a commendable performance with 28 points, and Drew Timme collected 18, but those showings weren't quite enough to keep the Lakers' postseason alive.
The Lakers were without Bronny James on Sunday as he joined the Los Angeles Lakers as they faced the Dallas Mavericks. The son of LeBron James appeared in 14 regular-season games this year, averaging 15.6 points, 3.5 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game this year.
