Jets 2026 NFL Schedule Released for Geno Smith, Aaron Glenn's 1st Season Together
After a disappointing first year under head coach Aaron Glenn that included a 0-7 start and a 3-14 finish, the New York Jets are hoping to fly a little higher in 2026.
The NFL released the entire regular-season schedule for all 32 teams on Thursday, and the Jets will open the year against the Tennessee Titans in Week 1.
Full schedule information available on the team's official website.
Analysis
The Jets made some veteran additions on both sides of the ball this offseason, trading for quarterback Geno Smith and safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and signing linebacker DeMario Davis amid a slew of other moves.
The Jets have the 12th-hardest schedule in the league based on their opponents' winning percentage from the 2025 campaign.
New York won't have it easy in its matchups against NFC North teams, as all four of them finished above .500 last season. The game against the Detroit Lions will represent a homecoming for Glenn, who spent four years as the defensive coordinator under head coach Dan Campbell before joining the Jets.
The team is also set to go up against all four AFC West squads, as the Kansas City Chiefs are hungry to bounce back from their worst season in 14 years. The Las Vegas Raiders will be ushering in a new era with 2026 No. 1 pick Fernando Mendoza. The Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers will be seeking deeper playoff runs this season.
Matchups against the Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns and Arizona Cardinals could provide some relief, but the Jets play in one of the toughest divisions in the league, so 2026 could be another tough year for fans to endure.
Pivotal Matchups
Of course, the Jets' struggles over the years can be attributed to their inability to compete in the AFC East, as they haven't finished with a .500 record or better in division matchups since 2015. Last year, they lost all six of their games against division foes.
The Jets will be facing a New England Patriots team that is coming off a run to the Super Bowl, a Buffalo Bills team in transition under new head coach Joe Brady and a Miami Dolphins team that is rebuilding with new head coach Jeff Hafley and quarterback Malik Willis. New York will have to earn some wins in those matchups if it hopes to turn the corner in Glenn's second year at the helm.
With the new pieces added this offseason, there's a chance that the Jets could steal some games if they play competent football.
Glenn will need the team to show visible improvement if he hopes to keep his job past the 2026 season, so New York will have to get off to a better start than it did last year and prove that he deserves to continue leading the ship.
