Flau'Jae Johnson to Storm, Seattle's Depth Chart, Starting Lineup After 2026 WNBA Draft Trade
Flau'Jae Johnson is heading to Seattle.
The Golden State Valkyries initially drafted the former LSU star 8th overall in Monday's WNBA draft, but later traded her to the Storm in return for Marta Suarez (drafted 18th overall) and a 2028 second-round pick.
Here's a look at the Storm's potential depth chart and starting lineup after landing Johnson.
Storm 2026 Depth Chart
- G: Natasha Hiedeman, Jade Melbourne, Taina Mair
- G: Zia Cooke, Flau'jae Johnson, Lexie Brown
- F: Jordan Horston, Katie Lou Samuelson
- F: Mackenzie Holmes, Ezie Magbegor
- C: Dominique Malonga, Stefanie Dolson, Awa Fam Thiam
Johnson joined LSU ahead of the 2022-23 season and made an immediate impact, starting all 36 games and helping the Tigers win a national championship. She was named SEC Freshman of the Year for her efforts.
She put together another good season in 2023-24 before a breakout year in 2024-25, which saw her put up 18.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game on her way to an All-SEC and third-team All-American nod.
Johnson took a step back this season, though, averaging 14.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. Her dip in scoring production had a lot to do with the addition of MiLaysia Fulwiley through the transfer portal.
Johnson's time with the Tigers came to an end with a loss to Duke in the Sweet 16.
Had she kept up her pace from the previous season, Johnson likely would have had a strong case to go first overall, but she left a few questions unanswered as a senior.
Still, her game should translate to the next level as she's able to both create shots on her own and score from deep, all while playing strong defense on the perimeter.
The Storm will look to get the best version of Johnson in the coming years.
