A'ja Wilson Trolls Paige Bueckers in Social Media Photo After South Carolina's Win vs. UConn
A'ja Wilson helpfully alerted Paige Bueckers of the outcome after their alma maters faced off in the Final Four of the 2026 NCAA women's basketball tournament.
The Las Vegas Aces star messaged Bueckers to rub it in once South Carolina defeated UConn 62-48 on Friday night. The reigning Rookie of the Year acknowledged the Gamecocks are No. 1:
South Carolina pulled away in the fourth quarter of a defensive struggle. Dawn Staley's squad avenged last year's blowout to the Huskies in the title game, a contest in which Bueckers played an important role.
This time around, the Gamecocks swarmed UConn's biggest stars. Sarah Strong and Azzi Fudd combined to shoot 7-of-31 from the field and score 20 points.
Joyce Edwards set the tone of both ends of the floor for South Carolina, finishing with 11 points, eight rebounds, two assists, three steals and one block. Ta'Niya Latson's 16 points were a game high as the Florida State transfer was a perfect 10-of-10 from the charity stripe.
Bueckers will be thankful Team USA's training camp wrapped up before she and Wilson had the chance to watch the Final Four together. Both players took part in the three-day event, which wrapped up Friday in Phoenix.
