A'ja Wilson Wants New Aces Contract in WNBA Free Agency, 'Looking to Win Another One'

Timothy RappApr 3, 2026

A'ja Wilson stated flatly on Friday that she does not intend to leave the Las Vegas Aces during WNBA free agency this offseason.

"I'm not looking," she told reporters. "I know exactly where I am. ... I'm looking to win another one."

That doesn't come as a major surprise. On March 18, Callie Fin of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that Wilson was "expected to re-sign on the historic new WNBA supermax salary of $1.4 million as soon as possible."

As Fin noted, Wilson has taken team-friendly deals in the past to help the Aces build a championship contender, and the result was three titles in the past four years. But she also made just $200,000 per season under her last extension and didn't rank among the top-25 salaries in the WNBA last season.

With the salary cap increasing from $1.4 million to $7 million after CBA negotiations, however, Wilson should now be able to make her true market value without sacrificing Las Vegas' ability to keep its core group together.

Assuming she signs the supermax, she'll be worth every penny.

Wilson, 29, averaged 23.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.3 blocks and 1.3 steals per game last season, earning her fourth MVP and third Defensive Player of the Year award in the process. The core group of Wilson, Chelsea Gray and Jackie Young has had incredible success together, and adding Jewell Loyd to the mix last season made the Aces all the more fearsome.

With Gray, Young and Loyd all hitting free agency, however, it remains to be seen if the Aces will be able to run it back. Wilson, at least, seems poised to return.
