Kirk Cousins' Massive Updated Career Earnings After Signing Raiders Contract in NFL Free Agency

Doric SamApr 2, 2026

After signing with the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday, veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins once again solidified himself as one of the richest signal-callers in NFL history.

According to Spotrac, when factoring in the money that Cousins is expected to make from his deal with the Raiders, his career earnings will rise to a whopping $343 million, which would surpass the legendary Tom Brady ($332.9M) for the second-most all-time.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Cousins agreed to a five-year, $172 million deal with the Raiders that is actually a one-year, fully-guaranteed $20 million deal that also includes a club option for two years at $80 million. He added that the Atlanta Falcons are still on the hook for $8.7 million of his 2026 salary after releasing him last month, while the Raiders will pay him $1.3 million and a $10 million roster bonus on the third day of the 2027 league year.

This also marks the 11th straight season that Cousins' contract is fully guaranteed. The 37-year-old has never won a Super Bowl or been named NFL MVP, and he has just one playoff win in his career. Still, he can never be criticized for his ability to negotiate a deal.

By joining the Raiders, Cousins appears to be accepting the task of being a veteran mentor to quarterback Fernando Mendoza, who is projected to be the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL draft later this month. He was caught off guard when the Falcons drafted quarterback Michael Penix Jr. after signing him in 2024, but that shouldn't be the case this time around.

Whether Cousins earns the starting quarterback job in Las Vegas or not, he will certainly enjoy adding to his bank account throughout the 2026 season.
