NFL Draft 2026 Scouting Report for Navy DL Landon Robinson

Matt HolderApr 16, 2026

Standing at 5'11" and 291 pounds, Landon Robinson may be undersized , but he's a very impressive athlete as a disruptive defensive lineman and intriguing late-round option.

Coming out of high school in the 2021 class, Robinson wasn't ranked on 247Sports' composite rankings and primarily held FCS offers before spending one year at the Naval Academy's Prep School.

He didn't get any playing time for the Midshipmen until 2023, then ended up collecting 153 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss, 14.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in 38 career games. Robinson earned first-team All-American Conference honors in 2024 and '25, while also earning the league's Defensive Player of the Year this past season.

Matt Holder has been a part of B/R's Scouting Department for four seasons. He also writes about the Las Vegas Raiders and NFL draft for SB Nation's Silver and Black Pride, and co-hosts a YouTube Channel, Tape Don't Lie, providing film breakdowns and more draft prospect analysis.

Where He Wins

1 of 4
Army v Navy - 125th America's Game

- Robinson is an underappreciated athlete who tested well during his pro day to earn a 9.46 relative athletic score among defensive tackles.

- Quick get-off to get penetration when one-gapping or slanting.

- Against the run, the fire hydrant-like defensive tackle brings natural leverage with some pop in his hands to stand up interior offensive linemen occasionally. He also takes on blocks with a wide base to hold his gap when left one-on-one.

- Good at sinking his hips to avoid getting washed when slanting.

- As a pass-rusher, he's quick and has active hands to beat offensive linemen across their faces.

- Agile with impressive lateral movement skills to be an effective looper on line games. Also, he is good at finding and exploiting open pass-rush lanes.

- High-motor, high-effort player to get coverage sacks or factor into gang tackles down the field.

Areas of Improvement

Navy Army Football

- Robinson is undersized for an NFL defensive tackle and significantly lacks the desired length.

- Lacks the mass and strength to hold his ground versus double-teams in the ground game or use an effective bull rush against NFL-caliber blockers.

- Short arms lead to limited extension on blocks as a run defender and offensive linemen tend to make first significant contact when rushing the passer, allowing blockers to get into his body.

- Block recognition against the run is a little slow, leading to getting reached or scooped.

- Blended in rather than standing out against the two high-level programs Navy played this past season in Notre Dame and Cincinnati.
