The story behind Orton's mystery caller began on the March 16 episode of RAW when he was seen backstage talking to someone and thanking them for their advice.
"I appreciate you doing this, I really do," Orton said to the caller. "I'll see you soon."
Orton also made a point of saying that "wrestling has more than one royal family," indicating that he may be talking to someone powerful.
More details seemingly emerged about Orton's mystery caller during Monday's episode of RAW.
During the episode, Cody Rhodes was addressing the crowd and specifically discussing Orton while also taking a shot at Stephanie McMahon, saying that she's not her father.
"I know everything about Randy Orton," Rhoodes said. "I know he was the coal that became the diamond. I know that he was the youngest champion in company history. I know that he was the legend killer by merit... I am not the student, I am not afraid of Randy Orton and I am not walking into my WrestleMania main event."
McMahon responded by saying that Rhodes is going to lose his title if he can't embrace what he's learned from Orton.
"Unless you can learn to actually think like Randy, then you are going to lose that title, and WrestleMania will be the last time Cody Rhodes is introduced as the undisputed WWE champion," she said.
Clearly, families and legacies are a big theme this week, and that could give fans an idea of who has been calling Orton. Regardless, the identity of the mystery caller should be revealed soon.
