B/R's NFL Scouting Department ranked Ponds as the No. 4 cornerback in this year's draft class in its big board and dubbed him the best slot cornerback. He wasn't projected to be selected in the first round in its mock draft.
In his junior year with the Hoosiers in 2025, Ponds totaled 60 tackles, 10 passes defended, a forced fumble and two interceptions, one of which he took all the way for his second career return touchdown. He recorded five tackles and three passes defended in Indiana's win over Miami in the national championship game to help the Hoosiers win their first title in program history and complete their undefeated season.
Ponds has the tools to be a reliable cornerback in the NFL, and the speed he showed in the 40-yard dash could be enough for a team to take a chance on him in the first round of this month's draft.
