Browns Drop 'Origins' Helmet in Trending Photo for 2026 April Fools' Prank
The Cleveland Browns got in on April Fools' Day by posting an image of their "new" protective headgear.
In a post on X, the Browns put a decal of their current helmet on the side of an actual helmet and dubbed it the "origins" look.
This is a good joke for many reasons, not least of which it calls to mind the iconic image of Timothy Dalton in Hot Fuzz.
The Browns are at something of a disadvantage, compared to other NFL teams, in terms of retro gear because their look hasn't really changed much over the years.
With the exception of Brownie the Elf, which was their primary logo from 1948 to '69, the orange helmet has been synonymous with Browns football. They have added some different looks in recent years, including an all-brown alternate helmet last season.
Even though it would be amusing to see a team try to play with a decal of their helmet on their actual helmet, in part to see if it could create some sort of hypnotic effect that would distract the opposing team, the Browns probably wouldn't have much luck getting that approved by the NFL given how strict the league is about uniform regulations.
It would also help to make the Browns more fun to watch coming off an 8-26 record over the past two seasons.
