Bron Breakker, The Rock and Biggest Names Missing from WWE WrestleMania 42 Match Card
Monday's WWE Raw from Madison Square Garden was instrumental in making multiple matches official for WrestleMania 42.
The Irresistible Forces are set to defend their WWE Women's Tag Team Championship in a Fatal 4-Way tag team match, while Penta will put the Intercontinental Championship on the line in a five-man ladder matchup.
Gunther and Seth Rollins, who were noticeably absent from the card prior to this past week, are confirmed to be facing each other after The Ring General returned to randomly attack The Visionary.
Even as the two-night 'Mania lineup continues to grow, there are still several stars who remain unaccounted for. More matches can be added between now and April 18-19, but it isn't uncommon for some competitors to be benched until after the event.
From Bron Breakker to The Rock, these are the biggest names missing from the WrestleMania 42 match card.
Honorable Mentions
1 of 8
Damian Priest
Holding gold going into WrestleMania doesn't necessarily guarantee a spot on the card. Priest and R-Truth recently unseated The MFTs for the WWE Tag Team Championship, but with the tag team division depleted as it is on SmackDown, no challengers are currently waiting in the wings. As such, the former world heavyweight champion may have to sit this one out.
Asuka
The Empress of Tomorrow has been harassing Kairi Sane for months, and with Iyo Sky taking exception to her actions, that match would seem to make the most sense for 'Mania. With a record of 0-6, Asuka has yet to win at the event.
Carmelo Hayes
It would be egregious for Hayes to not make 'Mania in some form or fashion after single-handedly carrying SmackDown with his United States Championship open challenges all year. There's still a chance he gets added to the U.S. title bout between Sami Zayn and Trick Williams.
Ilja Dragunov
Dragunov's ticket to WrestleMania would have either been a rematch with Hayes for the star-spangled prize or challenging his old rival Gunther in an attempt to regain his confidence. Hayes lost the title on last week's SmackDown, and Gunther will be battling Seth Rollins instead, so Dragunov has no obvious opponent.
Rey Mysterio
Gunther's disrespect toward Dragon Lee was likely leading to him clashing with another masked marvel in Mysterio, but an injury Mysterio suffered on the Raw before Royal Rumble clearly caused plans to change. If the WWE Hall of Famer is back in time, it won't be for an outing against The Ring General.
Bron Breakker
2 of 8
Seeds had been planted for Bron Breakker facing Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 42 as far back as a year ago when The Badass joined forces with Rollins and Paul Heyman on the post-WrestleMania Raw to form The Vision.
Breakker went on to betray Rollins in October and put him on the shelf in storyline. Although The Visionary has since been cleared to compete at 'Mania, the second-generation star suffered an injury of his own in January that sidelined him indefinitely.
Per Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, Breakker has been given the green light for WrestleMania, but the executive choice was made to keep him out of action and not rush him back so soon. That resulted in Rollins shifting his focus toward Gunther instead.
WWE can still save that marquee match for down the road, but it doesn't rule out Breakker returning on The Grandest Stage of Them All to cost Rollins his bout with Gunther. If not, an angle on the post-WrestleMania Raw would be fitting with that being where they first forged their alliance one year earlier.
Iyo Sky
3 of 8
As arguably one of the best wrestlers in all of WWE, Iyo Sky not having a WrestleMania match set in stone yet is quite the questionable call.
She's virtually been directionless since she and Rhea Ripley lost the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship to The Irresistible Forces one night prior to Elimination Chamber. She's been embroiled in a mini feud with The Judgment Day on Raw, but she lost to Raquel Rodriguez on Monday night.
Her various interactions with The Kabuki Warriors in backstage segments as well as at ringside indicate she'll be doing something at the event with either one of them, if not both in a potential Triple Threat.
WrestleMania always should have been the endgame for Sky vs. Asuka, but WWE moved away from the feud for whatever reason earlier in the year.
They can still have their long-awaited singles match in addition to Kairi Sane finally standing up to Asuka. The bout should be officially announced next week for WrestleMania, but it shouldn't have taken this long for WWE to rekindle their rivalry.
Jey Uso
4 of 8
Last year's Road to WrestleMania was all about Jey Uso finishing his own story and proving he can win the big one in the form of the World Heavyweight Championship.
His decisive defeat of Gunther at the event made for a memorable moment, even if his subsequent reign was far from it.
One year later and his Road to WrestleMania 42 hasn't been as concrete. He and brother Jimmy won the World Tag Team Championship at the tail end of 2025, only to lose the belts to The Vision in a Street Fight on Monday's Raw.
There's no point in the two teams running it back yet again, so a six-man tag team match also involving LA Knight and celebrity streamer IShowSpeed would be the better option. If not that, then The Usos could just as easily get involved in the Night 2 main event between Roman Reigns and CM Punk and factor into that finish.
Regardless, a heel turn appears to be imminent for The Usos, and WrestleMania could be where they fully embrace being bad guys depending on what they have in store.
Logan Paul
5 of 8
With Logan Paul being WWE's resident celebrity part-timer, he's competed at every installment of WrestleMania since 2022 and has an impressive record of 3-1.
Now that he's adopted a full-time schedule, WWE will almost certainly find a spot for him.
The Vision vs. The Usos wouldn't be an interesting addition to the card at this point, but as noted, WWE may have just discovered a way to further the feud without doing another two-on-two tag team match.
IShowSpeed's accidental assist on Raw allowed The Vision to walk away with the World Tag Team Championship on Monday night. WWE brass surely can't resist the urge to have the two streamers team up at their premier pay-per-view, even though the card is already filled with other attractions.
The tag titles themselves won't be defended, but the social media sensation will still get his 'Mania match and presumably go over.
LA Knight
6 of 8
If it hasn't already been made obvious, LA Knight will compete at WrestleMania as part of the aforementioned six-man tag team match alongside The Usos against The Vision and IShowSpeed.
Unfortunately, for someone who is still unbelievably over with the audience despite the bad booking he's endured, Knight will be wasted in this role. It's an improvement over not being included in the card at all, but he very much feels like the odd man out and should be expected to eat the pinfall loss for his team.
WWE has had The Megastar feuding with The Vision on and off dating back to last June. Bronson Reed would have been a suitable opponent had he not gotten injured, but there's no other logical spot for Knight on the show.
The two-time United States champion going from having back-to-back WrestleMania matches with AJ Styles and Jacob Fatu to being relegated to a thrown-together six-man tag team contest is undoubtedly a demotion.
Tiffany Stratton
7 of 8
Similar to Iyo Sky, Tiffany Stratton also saw herself involved in a high-profile women's match at WrestleMania 41, successfully defending her WWE Women's Championship against Charlotte Flair.
She went on to reign as champ for the better part of the year before losing it to Jade Cargill, and following a near-three-month absence from WWE TV, she returned at the Royal Rumble. She narrowly fell short both there and at Elimination Chamber.
With the top title picture on SmackDown occupied at the moment, Stratton setting her sights on the Women's United States Championship instead would be a fine use of her at WrestleMania 42. However, she lost clean to current champ Giulia in non-title action on last week's SmackDown and nothing was done to suggest there will be a rematch.
She has another few weeks to earn an opportunity at the title, but even if Chelsea Green is incorporated to make it a Triple Threat, the pre-WrestleMania SmackDown might be where she ultimately ends up.
The Rock
8 of 8
The Rock has loomed large over WrestleMania for years, and only at the most inconvenient times has he made his presence felt.
After he pinned Cody Rhodes in the Night 1 main event of WrestleMania XL, Rock's next match should have been with The American Nightmare for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
The two did interact on the Road to WrestleMania 41, only for Rock to acquire John Cena's "soul" at Elimination Chamber and disappear from programming altogether.
There have been zero rumblings that Rock will be back for WrestleMania 42, but The Great One can never be counted out entirely. After all, he did have an impromptu six-second match with Erick Rowan at WrestleMania 32 and could even be the mystery person Randy Orton has been talking to on the phone with recently.
Rock vs. Roman Reigns at one point felt like a lock for The Show of Shows, especially with the event taking place in Las Vegas, but The OTC will instead be busy challenging CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Perhaps Punk's disrespect of Reigns' family will draw Rock out from the shadows, but more realistically, he won't appear again in WWE until he has something to gain.
