Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese Absent From USA Basketball Training Camp Roster Led by Paige Bueckers
The USA Basketball women's national team announced its roster for an upcoming training camp on Tuesday, with Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese both absent.
Instead, Paige Bueckers headlined a Team USA roster that included WNBA stars such as A'ja Wilson, Napheesa Collier and Sabrina Ionescu.
During training camp, USA women's national team managing director Sue Bird will evaluate players before naming a team for the 2026 FIBA Women's World Cup.
Bueckers, Clark and Reese were previously part of the United States' squad that competed in the 2026 FIBA World Cup qualifying tournament.
All three players performed admirably in the event, helping the U.S. go undefeated in five games.
Clark was selected as MVP of the qualifying tournament for her efforts, averaging 11.4 points and 6.4 assists to go along with 1.6 rebounds per game. She shot 52.9 percent from the field and 40.0 percent from three-point territory.
As for Bueckers, she averaged 10.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.8 steals per game on 50.0/40.0/100.0 shooting splits.
Meanwhile, Reese recorded a team-high 8.0 rebounds to go along with 6.8 points per game. She was efficient around the rim throughout the competition, shooting 52.2 percent from the field.
Bueckers isn't the only member of the USA's team that competed in the World Cup qualifiers to participate in the upcoming training camp, as Monique Billings and Rae Burrell will also be returning to the national stage.
The USA Basketball camp will take place in Phoenix and run from Wednesday through Friday.
