Madison Booker, Texas Reach 2nd Straight Final Four After March Madness Win vs. Michigan

Joseph ZuckerMar 30, 2026

Texas is back in the Final Four after coasting past Michigan 77-41 in the NCAA women's basketball tournament on Monday at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

It was the Wolverines' lowest scoring output of the season. Texas, meanwhile, continues to be a buzz saw. Its four wins in the tournament have come by an average of 35.5 points

First-team All-American Madison Booker set the tone early on, putting up 15 points and six rebounds by halftime. Texas headed into the locker room with a 13-point lead.

The Longhorns went scoreless for the first three and a half minutes of the third quarter, extending a lengthy cold streak.

Michigan was unable to eat into the deficit too much, though. At the 6:22 mark, guard Rori Harmon drilled a three-pointer to put Texas up 14. Whatever momentum the Wolverines were building quickly evaporated.

They simply couldn't get their offense firing. As a team, Michigan shot 23 percent overall and went 2-of-15 from beyond the arc. Kim Barnes Arico's squad was outscored 43-20 in the second half.

Guards Olivia Olson and Syla Swords came into Monday night averaging 34 points per game. They scored 19 as a tandem and were 5-of-28 from the field.

On the other end of the floor, this was another showcase performance from Booker, who's widely considered one of the top prospects in the 2027 WNBA draft class.

Justice Carlton (15 points), Breya Cunningham (11 points) and Kyla Oldacre (12 points) all scored in double figures, with Oldacre hauling in 11 rebounds for the double-double.

Harmon was the offensive engine, dishing out 13 assists.

At this stage of the season, victories don't come more comprehensive than this.

Texas will meet UCLA in the national semifinals after the Bruins pulled away and earned a 70-58 win over Duke in the Elite Eight.

The Bruins and Longhorns already played once, with the latter coming away an 11-point victor in November. Star center Lauren Betts was held in check for UCLA, finishing with eight points and seven rebounds. Harmon and Booker combined to score 42 points on the other side.

If they can neutralize Betts to a similar degree again, then the Longhorns will likely move on to their first title game since 1986.
