In his first pay-per-view match since returning from injury, Will Ospreay fell to Jon Moxley in a Continental Championship bout at AEW Dynasty on Sunday.

Ospreay tried to hit a Tiger Driver but was unable to do so due to his injured neck and arm.

Moxley soon gained the upper hand and hit Ospreay with a Tiger Driver on the steel steps for the win.

Ospreay made his surprise return last month at Revolution, marking his first appearance on AEW programming since Forbidden Door seven months earlier in August 2025.

At that event, Ospreay was part of the winning team in a five-one-five lights out steel cage match, as he, Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, Darby Allin and Hiroshi Tanahashi defeated a team led by Moxley.

Mox and The Death Riders got the last laugh, though, by brutally attacking Ospreay after the match, resulting in him undergoing neck surgery and missing more than half a year.

During Ospreay's absence, Moxley went on a dominant run, winning the Continental Classic and beating Kazuchika Okada for the Continental Championship.

He then proceeded to have several successful title defenses, including one against Konosuke Takeshita at Revolution, which is when Ospreay chose to return and confront the man who orchestrated him being put on the shelf.

On the ensuing episode of Dynamite, Ospreay proved he was back in fighting shape with an impressive win over Blake Christian, setting the stage for his return PPV match against Moxley.

Ospreay officially laid down the challenge to Moxley for a match at Dynasty during the March 25 edition of Dynamite, and Mox accepted that same night.

Sunday marked just the second one-on-one match ever between Ospreay and Moxley, with Mox coming out on top in their first meeting at New Japan Pro-Wrestling's Windy City Riot in 2022.

The result was the same at Dynasty, as Ospreay was unable to get revenge against Moxley and The Death Riders.
