While that is a significant difference between the Dodgers and even the second-highest team in the New York Yankees, it comes as anything but a surprise.
Los Angeles won the last two World Series titles and added the offseason's most notable offensive player when it signed Kyle Tucker in free agency. A lineup with Shohei Ohtani, Tucker, Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman on the top is almost impossible to deal with for opposing pitchers.
And that's not even getting into Los Angeles' pitching.
Reigning World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow and Ohtani are in the rotation, while newly signed closer Edwin Díaz will anchor a bullpen that also includes Tanner Scott. There is an overwhelming amount of talent on the roster, and the rest of the league is playing catch up with Los Angeles.
But it should be a tight race among the other contenders.
The Yankees, Seattle Mariners, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies, Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays and Chicago Cubs are all listed with shorter odds than +2,000 after they each made notable offseason moves to bolster impressive rosters.
Still, it is the Dodgers' league until someone else wins the trophy.
