It appears that UFC star Conor McGregor is getting closer to his long-awaited return to the Octagon.

In a new post on Instagram, McGregor teased his potential comeback with a caption declaring that he's ready to save the sport of MMA.

"The [rumors] are true! Mr. Confidence returns to save fighting again!" McGregor wrote in the caption. "Call your grandma! Nanny we did it! Watch and pay me. F--k you pay me."

McGregor hasn't fought since July 2021, but he's been rumored to be eyeing a return to fighting this summer. While fans were hoping to see him on the UFC White House card on June 14, the company is expected to save him for a standalone event built around his comeback.

As one of the UFC's biggest stars, McGregor will undoubtedly command a major payday for his next fight. There were some questions about how the UFC's deal with Paramount+ will affect his interest, as the pay-per-view points that used to boost his pay even further no longer exist. However, the 37-year-old indicated in his caption that he's looking forward to doing business with the UFC under the new model.

"Hey @paramountplus see you guys soon I'm so excited! And Born Ready," he wrote.

It will be interesting to see who is tabbed as McGregor's opponent for his return fight. He had been linked to Michael Chandler for the past few years, but Chandler was booked for the White House event against Mauricio Ruffy. His longtime rival Nate Diaz could've been an option for their highly anticipated trilogy fight, but he's scheduled to make his return to MMA against Mike Perry on the May 14 Netflix card headlined by Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano.

Whatever the case may be, McGregor's return will surely provide some excitement for UFC fans who haven't been happy with the company's recent output.
