The Falcons needed a backup running back behind superstar Bijan Robinson after Tyler Allgeier left Atlanta to sign a two-year, $12.25 million contract with the Arizona Cardinals. Now they have one in the 27-year-old Robinson, who is entering his fifth NFL season.

The Washington Commanders selected Robinson out of Alabama with a third-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft. He spent three seasons in Washington and amassed 2,329 total yards and 15 touchdowns. He crossed 1,000 total yards in 2023 (1,101) and had a career-high of 799 rushing yards in 2024.

Before the 2025 season, Washington traded Robinson to the San Francisco 49ers for a 2026 sixth-round pick. He backed up Christian McCaffrey and finished the year with 425 total yards and two touchdowns on 100 touches.

For his career, Robinson has rushed for 4.1 yards per carry, including 4.3 each of the past two seasons.

Nathan Carter rounds out the top three on the Falcons' depth chart at running back. Carter had nine carries for 60 yards last year, his rookie season.
