Full List of NFL's Highest-Paid WRs After Jaxon Smith-Njigba's Record-Breaking Seahawks Contract

Doric SamMar 23, 2026

Seattle Seahawks star receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba reset the market with a record-breaking contract extension on Monday.

Smith-Njiba agreed to a four-year, $168.6 million deal that now makes him the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history. ESPN's Adam Schefter provided the updated list of the league's highest-paid wideouts based on annual average salary following Smith-Njigba's payday:

  • Jaxon Smith-Njiba, Seattle Seahawks: $42.5 million
  • Ja'Marr Chase, Cincinnati Bengals: $40.25 million
  • Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings: $35 million
  • CeeDee Lamb, Dallas Cowboys: $34 million
  • DK Metcalf, Pittsburgh Steelers: $33 million
  • Garrett Wilson, New York Jets: $32.5 million

Schefterย notedย that Smith-Njigba's deal includes over $120 million guaranteed, which is also a record for a wide receiver. He's now under contract with Seattle through the 2031 season.

Smith-Njigba's new deal sets a benchmark for other wide receivers who are in line for a contract extension, namely Los Angeles Rams star Puka Nacua, who is entering the final year of his rookie deal in 2026.

Last week, the Seahawks exercised the fifth-year option on Smith-Njigba's rookie contract that would pay him $23.9 million during the 2027 season. Despite the extra security, Seattle was proactive in getting a long-term extension done for the reigning NFL Offensive Player of the Year.

In 2025, Smith-Njigba set career highs in receptions (119), receiving yards (1,793) and touchdown receptions (10) on his way to earning first-team All-Pro honors and his second Pro Bowl selection. He helped lead the Seahawks to a 14-3 record and a win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX for the second title in franchise history.

The defending champs have made a commitment to keeping the band together. Before Smith-Njigba's new deal, the Seahawks signed left tackle Charles Cross to a four-year, $104.4 million deal deal in January to lock him up as quarterback Sam Darnold's blindside protector. Smith-Njigba's fellow 2023 first-round pick, star cornerback Devon Witherspoon, is also eligible for an extension this offseason.

After Monday's bank-breaking extension, Smith-Njigba will be motivated to maintain his status as one of the best receivers in the NFL as the Seahawks chase a second straight Super Bowl title during the 2026 season.
