'Complete Bulls--t,' Logan Webb Rips Narrative That Team USA 'Didn't Care' About WBC

Adam WellsMar 20, 2026

Logan Webb has a message for anyone who thinks Team USA was indifferent about the World Baseball Classic.

Back at camp with the San Francisco Giants after his stint with the U.S., Webb called the narrative that the team "didn't care" about its result in the WBC "complete bulls--t."

One of the criticisms about the Team USA approach throughout the tournament was how lifeless players seemed, especially in comparison to the enthusiasm that other teams frequently displayed in the dugout and on the field.

Eugenio Suárez, who drove in the game-winning run for Venezuela in the championship game against the U.S., gave one of the most impassioned postgame speeches by a baseball player ever.

Criticisms also stemmed from comments U.S. players made about the tournament. Bryce Harper made headlines when he said the WBC is "great, but it's not the Olympics."

Even if there is some truth to that, it's an odd comment to make in the midst of the WBC. Team USA also came off as poor losers when players were seen immediately removing the silver medal they received on the field.

There were moments of fun on display at times. Harper, for instance, had one of the great bat flips while celebrating his two-run homer in the eighth inning against Venezuela that briefly tied the game.

An explanation for all of this is that pressure is starting to mount for the U.S. baseball team. They have lost in the championship game in each of the last two World Baseball Classic tournaments.

Since the tournament began in 2006, Team USA's lone win was in 2017. The next big event on the calendar will be the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, with MLB hopeful about letting big-league players participate in the Games.
