UConn's Sarah Strong, Azzi Fudd, UCLA's Lauren Betts Lead 2026 WCBB AP All-American Teams
Having helped UConn claim the No. 1 overall seed in the 2026 NCAA tournament, Sarah Strong and Azzi Fudd were named first-team All-Americans by the Associated Press.
The AP's Doug Feinberg noted it's the first time since 2020 that two teammates made the first team.
UCLA center Lauren Betts, Vanderbilt guard Mikayla Blakes and Texas forward Madison Booker also made the cut.

Despite winning a national championship and being named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, Fudd spurned the opportunity to enter the WNBA draft. Assuming a slightly larger role with the departure of Paige Bueckers, she has solidified her odds of being a 2026 lottery pick.
Fudd is averaging 17.7 points per game and shooting 44.6 percent from beyond the arc. Hunter Cruse had her going third overall to the Seattle Storm in Bleacher Report's most recent mock draft.
Strong was the lone unanimous pick for the first team. The sophomore forward is putting up 18.5 points, 7.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 3.4 steals and 1.6 blocks per contest.
UConn has produced a number of special players through the years, and Strong is on track to be one of them.
Like Fudd, Betts has cemented her case to be a lottery selection in April. The 6'7" big is scoring 16.4 points and hauling in 8.6 boards per game.
"Lauren Betts is a generational player; she's had incredible impact on the game," Bruins coach Cori Close told Feinberg. "I'm not surprised for this honor, but I'm also thrilled for her and so excited for what she's earned. She's been not only impactful on a on-court and individual level, but also on a team and program level. This is well deserved for Lauren."
Blakes is just the second player in program history to be a first-team AP All-American. Chantelle Anderson (2001-02) was the other. The sophomore guard is the Division I leading scorer (27.0 points), and her assists have climbed from 3.2 as a freshman to 4.4.
Booker is an All-American for the third straight year, and this is her second first-team nod. The junior is setting career highs in field-goal percentage (51.6), points (18.9) and steals (2.3).
