Albert Regis NFL Draft 2026 Scouting Report for Jacksonville Jaguars DT

Matt HolderApr 16, 2026

The Jacksonville Jaguars selected Texas A&M DT Albert Regis with the No. 81 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft.

Albert Regis is a strong run defender who can be trusted to hold his gap and beat one-on-one blocks to make tackles near the line of scrimmage. However, teams might have a difficult time finding his best position because the 6'1", 295-pound defensive lineman has nose tackle length with 3-technique mass.

Regis' college career began as a 3-star recruit in the 2021 class. He was a two-year starter at Texas A&M, racking up 116 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, 10 passes defended and a forced fumble in 51 career games.

Where He Wins

2 of 5
Texas A&M v Notre Dame

- Regis has a solid get-off; he's quick to react to the snap and has decent initial quickness overall.

- Good block recognition to put himself in a position to take on blocks.

- Quick to get his hands up in the run game, takes on blocks with a wide base, has natural leverage and the strength to consistently stay in his gap when one-on-one against interior offensive linemen. Solid against combo blocks/double teams too.

- Decent lateral movement skills to avoid getting reached or be effective when slanting.

- Gets his hands up as a pass-rusher and has a knack for batting passes at the line of scrimmage, collecting nine passes defended over the last two seasons.

- Experience playing a variety of alignments from a 0- to a 4i-technique.

- Tested well at the NFL combine.

Areas of Improvement

3 of 5
Notre Dame v Texas A&M

- Regis has tweener size, lacking the length to be a full-time 3-tech defensive tackle or 4i-defensive and is too light to be a nose tackle.

- Short arms allow offensive linemen to hang onto him even when he gets extension as a run defender, and make it difficult for him to make the first significant contact when rushing the passer.

- Has a habit of losing gap control when shedding or escaping blocks, especially when he tries to use the offensive lineman's momentum against them with a hump move.

- Not a factor as a pass-rusher, lacking the explosion and pad level to be effective when bull rushing and doesn't have the use of hands to win with finesse moves.

- Low pass-rush motor.
