Dawson Knox, Bills Reportedly Agree to Restructured Contract, Updated NFL Salary Cap

Doric SamMar 10, 2026

The Buffalo Bills retained one of their key veterans while simultaneously making more room for future additions.

According to NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe, the Bills and tight end Dawson Knox agreed to a restructured three-year contract on Tuesday. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero added that Knox was set to make $12 million in 2026, so his restructured deal should provide some relief for Buffalo, which has negative $11.6 million in salary cap space, per Spotrac.

A third-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft, Knox has spent his entire career with the Bills. In 2025, he appeared in all 17 games for Buffalo and recorded 36 catches for 417 yards and four touchdowns as the team went 12-5 before losing to the Denver Broncos in the AFC Divisional Round.

Knox is part of a talented trio of tight ends for the Bills, along with Dalton Kincaid and Jackson Hawes. The three of them combined for 12 of star quarterback Josh Allen's 25 passing touchdowns this year. Kincaid led Buffalo with five receiving touchdowns, while Hawes reached the end zone three times in his rookie year after being drafted with a 2025 fifth-round pick.

The Bills added some juice to their passing attack by acquiring star receiver D.J. Moore from the Chicago Bears. However, it was also important for Buffalo to maintain some continuity by retaining Allen's favorite targets.

Knox should remain an integral part of Buffalo's tight end rotation in 2026 as the team tries to contend for an elusive Super Bowl berth once again. His restructured deal should allow the Bills to continue adding talent around Allen this offseason.
