On a day when he was out of the lineup for Japan, Shohei Ohtani still found a way to entertain fans during the final game at the Tokyo Dome during the 2026 World Baseball Classic.

Specifically, Ohtani made sure one young fan got a souvenir ball that fell back onto the field when he was unable to corral it with his glove.

Since Japan had already secured the top spot in Pool C and a berth in the knockout round, Ohtani was given the day off for Tuesday's matchup against Czechia.

The Japanese team did just fine without the four-time MVP in the lineup. They won 9-0, scoring all of their runs in the eighth inning, to finish pool play undefeated with a plus-25 run differential.

Ohtani and Japan will now head to Miami for the WBC quarterfinals. The defending champs will play either the Dominican Republic or Venezuela on Saturday at 9 p.m. ET.
