New Brian Thomas Jr. Trade Rumors Reveal Jaguars Are 'Entertaining Offers' for WR

Brian Thomas Jr. reportedly could be on the move.

Connor Hughes of SNY reported Monday the Jacksonville Jaguars are "entertaining offers" for the wide receiver and have "changed" their stance from the trade deadline when they weren't willing to deal him.

Hughes and ESPN's Rich Cimini suggested the New York Jets could be a landing spot:

This may be something of a fluid situation, as Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports just reported Sunday "it would be a surprise" if the Jaguars traded him despite speculation.

Jacksonville considering trading the LSU product would have been stunning last year, as he was a Pro Bowler with 87 catches for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns as a rookie during the 2024 campaign.

The first-round pick looked to be a franchise cornerstone for years to come and someone who would develop even more chemistry with quarterback Trevor Lawrence as they became more experienced.

However, Thomas took a step back in his second season with 48 catches for 707 yards and two touchdowns. He didn't even lead the team in receiving yards, as that title went to Parker Washington.

Thomas didn't reach the 100-yard mark in a single game during his second season and finished the Jaguars' playoff loss to the Buffalo Bills with two catches. It was more of the same after he finished with fewer than five receptions in each of his final eight games during the regular season.

Considering Jacksonville also has Jakobi Meyers and Travis Hunter as wide receiver options, Thomas could be expendable if the AFC South team receives the right offer.

Still, he is also just 23 years old and looked to be one of the league's best receivers just one season ago. Giving up on him at this point would be selling low, and it could come back to haunt the Jaguars if he rediscovers his form with a change of scenery.
