John Franklin-Myers, Titans Reportedly Agree to Contract After Wan'Dale Deal, Updated Salary Cap

Timothy RappMar 9, 2026

The Tennessee Titans aren't being bashful during free agency.

The team reportedly signed defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers to a three-year, $63 million deal, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, continuing a busy day of signings for the Titans.

It's no surprise the Titans hit free agency aggressively, given the ample cap space they brought into the week and the 3-14 record they are attempting to rectify from the 2025 season.

Such an aggressive outlay in free agency can be risky, where players tend to sign deals at the top-end of their market, if not above their true market value. Slowly building through the draft and re-signing your own stars is generally a more sustainable and successful roster-building strategy.

But if done well, free agency can fuel quick turnarounds. The New England Patriots nailed it last offseason, infusing talent and solid culture fits to quickly morph into a Super Bowl team.

Granted, the Patriots benefitted from one of the easiest schedules in recent memory, but they were still drastically improved from 2024's 4-13 effort. Tennessee is hoping to do the same.

Franklin-Myers, 29, should help upgrade the defensive front. He's registered 14.5 sacks, 14 tackles for loss and 33 quarterback hits in the past two seasons, having arguably his best years after joining the Denver Broncos in 2024.

The Titans are gearing up for a turnaround under new head coach Robert Saleh. Franklin-Myers is a nice addition in that effort.
