Robert Spears-Jennings NFL Draft 2026 Scouting Report for Pittsburgh Steelers S

Daniel HarmsApr 16, 2026

The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Oklahoma S Robert Spears-Jennings with the No. 224 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft.

Robert Spears-Jennings has high-end athletic traits and a ready-made NFL frame to develop into an impact player, with range and downhill thumping hits from the safety position. As a team captain for Oklahoma, Jennings is a culture-building player with special-teams ability, who will fight to earn a role.

A former 4-star recruit, he played all four seasons at Oklahoma and compiled 178 tackles (102 solo), eight tackles for loss, two and a half sacks, two interceptions, four passes defensed, two fumble recoveries and five forced fumbles in 47 career games.

Dan has covered the Kansas City Chiefs and the NFL Draft since 2019 while contributing for RGR Football. Most recently, he spent the 2025 draft cycle at The Draft Network and is entering his first season in our scouting department.

Where He Wins

2 of 5
Tulane v Oklahoma

— Real stopping power at the impact point as a tackler. He brings a quick trigger as a blitzer, too.

— Consistently reads quarterbacks eyes and shows upside as a robber.

— He's willing to play physically over the middle against tight ends and wide receivers.

— High-effort player.

Areas of Improvement

3 of 5
COLLEGE FOOTBALL: NOV 01 Oklahoma at Tennessee

— Jennings locks onto the quarterback when in coverage and lacks route recognition and feel, which resulted in multiple blown coverages.

— Transitions are stiff and hesitant within his backpedal and man coverage, giving receivers extra time and space.

— He's a poor open-field tackler and routinely overruns angles that create bigger plays for the offense.

— He lacks the instincts and anticipation skills to live in space, create turnovers or take away receiving options.
