Latest NFL Rumors on Mike Evans, Alec Pierce, Rashid Shaheed, Romeo Doubs and Wan'Dale Robinson

Scott PolacekMar 8, 2026

With the start of the legal contact period for NFL free agency opening Monday, the wide receiver position figures to be under the spotlight with so many quality players potentially available.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported on the situation Sunday and noted headliners Mike Evans and Alec Pierce are still in discussions with their current teams.

According to Fowler, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are still being "aggressive in attempting to re-sign" the veteran Evans even though they are "not a lock" with the Washington Commanders lurking as a "sleeper."

The Buffalo Bills could have been a logical landing spot before trading for DJ Moore, but that means Tampa Bay may have one less team to fend off for someone who has become a franchise legend with more than 1,000 receiving yards in 11 of his 12 years with the team.

As for Pierce, Fowler reported he and the Indianapolis Colts will "go down to the wire" with their negotiations with the Commanders, New England Patriots, Las Vegas Raiders and Tennessee Titans potentially interested.

While Pierce's affinity for quarterback Daniel Jones is working in the Colts' favor, he also "appears poised to make at least $27 million per year on a new deal." A team overwhelming Pierce with an offer could outweigh his desire to remain in Indianapolis "if everything is equal."

NFL insider Josina Anderson reported that the Patriots may not be willing to meet the asking price:

Pierce could end up setting the market for the position this offseason after leading the league in yards per catch in each of the last two seasons. He also surpassed 1,000 receiving yards for the first time in his career in 2025 and, at just 25 years old, could be poised for quite the breakout on a new team next season.

If that new team isn't the interested Titans, they could turn to Wan'Dale Robinson.

Fowler reported there is "mutual interest" as Tennessee looks for more receivers to pair with young quarterback Cam Ward to help his development in the coming years. Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported on Sunday that there is "widespread belief in league circles" that Robinson will sign with Tennessee.

Tennessee is also reportedly interested in Romeo Doubs, with Fowler reporting he "plans to hit the market" following discussions with the Green Bay Packers.

With Doubs not expected to return to the NFC North team, the San Francisco 49ers, Patriots and Commanders are also interested.

It is a familiar list of teams connected to the receivers with Las Vegas also potentially in on Rashid Shaheed even though it needs to improve the offensive line.

With Ward in Tennessee, Drake Maye in New England, Jayden Daniels in Washington and, presumably, Fernando Mendoza in Las Vegas, all of the teams could use additional wide receiver depth to help their young quarterbacks in 2026.

Fortunately for those clubs, there are a number of candidates at the position available this offseason.
