Injuries Have Marred Mathews' Career
Injuries have more or less been the story of Mathews' NFL career. The former first-round pick never lived up to that billing in San Diego, and he was permitted to go to Philly when the Chargers selected Melvin Gordon on the first day of the 2015 draft.
Mathews played just six games last year coming off of his first full 16-game season. There's no denying his talent—it's just a question of whether he can stay on the field.
Despite the high-profile addition of DeMarco Murray in the offseason, Mathews leads the Eagles in rushing yards (205) and yards per carry (5.0).
