Colston A Valuable Target for Brees After Loss of Weapons
Colston's role in the New Orleans offense has decreased over the past two years, as his 59 catches and 902 yards in 2014 were the lowest he's had in a 16-game season. However, his 15.3 yards per catch tied for his second-best rate in nine NFL seasons.
The Saints are never lacking weapons for quarterback Drew Brees, though they created a void in the offense by trading Jimmy Graham. The team selected Brandin Cooks in the first round of the 2014 draft, and Willie Snead has broken out in a big way this year.
Colston remains the one constant presence in the Saints offense and serves as a safety net for Brees. He's 32 year old, though, and has a lot of wear on his tires, so he may be reaching a period of decline after being one of the most productive wideouts in the NFL for a long time.
