NFL Combine 2026 Features Historic 40-Yard Dash Times by Position Groups Ahead of Draft

Following the conclusion of the NFL scouting combine, it's clear that this generation of draft prospects is moving faster than ever before.

The NFL revealed that a slew of position groups at the combine set new records for average 40-yard dash times. Defensive backs, wide receivers, running backs, linebackers, tight ends, defensive linemen and offensive linemen all set new benchmarks, while quarterbacks recorded the second-fastest average 40 time in the history of the event.

Mississippi State wide receiver Brenen Thompson topped the entire field at the scouting combine with a 4.26 in the 40-yard dash, showcasing his blazing speed and boosting his draft stock along the way.
