New NFL Rumors Update Potential Kenneth Walker III Landing Spots After Seahawks' Super Bowl Win

Zach BacharFeb 26, 2026

Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III should generate plenty of interest if he hits free agency.

According to Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle, Walker is a name that's been "floated around" as a player that the Houston Texans might target on the open market.

The Texans are "expected to make a push for a top running back" in free agency and are "desperate to improve their running game," per Alexander.

ESPN's Adam Schefter previously reported the Seahawks were unlikely to use the franchise or transition tag on Walker after winning Super Bowl 60.

The 25-year-old owned a $1.9 million base salary for the 2025 season, the final year of his rookie contract.

Walker rushed for 1,027 yards and five touchdowns during his 2025 campaign, averaging 4.6 yards per carry. He also made his presence felt as part of Seattle's passing attack, hauling in 31 receptions for 282 yards.

The former Michigan State standout continued to thrive in the playoffs, picking up 417 all-purpose yards and four total touchdowns across three postseason appearances.

Walker compiled 135 rush yards during Seattle's 29-13 win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60, earning Super Bowl MVP honors for his efforts.

Seahawks general manager John Schneider confirmed that the team is looking to retain Walker.

"We'd love to keep him," Schneider told USA Today's Jarrett Bell on Tuesday. "That's what this week is about. Trying to figure out the landscape. I was just so happy for him."

As for the Texans, they're reportedly expected to release veteran running back Joe Mixon after he missed the entire 2025 season and could target Walker as his long-term replacement.

Houston ranked No. 22 among all teams in rushing offense last season, averaging 108.9 yards per game on the ground.
