Anthony Richardson's Agent Says Colts QB Will Be 'Box Office' With Next Team Amid NFL Trade Rumors

Zach BacharFeb 26, 2026

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson's agent, Chris Rogers, has high expectations for his client on a new team.

"He needs a fresh start. [His next team] is gonna be surprised to find out how smart he is," Rogers told Fox Sports' Henry McKenna. "When he was drafted, he was 20 years old. So now he's mature. He's seen a lot. … I just think his next stop — it's going to be box office."

ESPN's Stephen Holder reported Thursday that the Colts gave Richardson permission to seek a trade.

The 23-year-old's representatives hope to find a situation where he can compete to start and are also open to a landing spot where he can sit behind a veteran and learn a system that fits his skillset, per McKenna.

Indianapolis selected Richardson with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft.

Injuries limited him to just four starts as a rookie before he appeared in 11 games during his second season, completing 47.7 percent of his throws for 1,814 yards and eight touchdowns compared to 12 interceptions.

Richardson then lost to Daniel Jones in a battle for the Colts' first-team quarterback role in 2025, with veteran Philip Rivers coming out of retirement to start under center after Jones suffered a season-ending torn Achilles.

As Indianapolis negotiates a contract extension with Jones, a change of scenery for Richardson seems to be on the horizon.
