Matthew Tkachuk's Humble Brag Post Goes Viral After Winning Olympic Gold Medal with USA Hockey
Florida Panthers and Team USA winger Matthew Tkachuk kept it simple in his first post on X after the United States beat Canada 2-1 in overtime of the men's hockey gold medal game at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics on Sunday.
About an hour and a half after the Americans won their first men's hockey Olympic gold since 1980, Tkachuk posted gold medal and U.S. flag emojis, along with the message, "Is that good?"

New Jersey Devils center Jack Hughes scored perhaps the biggest goal in USA hockey history on Sunday in Milan, Italy, when he beat Canadian goaltender Jordan Binnington 1:41 into OT to lift the United States to victory.
While the 28-year-old Tkachuk has won the Stanley Cup each of the past two seasons, gold had eluded him at the senior national level until these Olympics.
Tkachuk was part of Team USA at last year's 4 Nations Face-Off, and while he helped lead the Americans to the finals, they fell to Canada in overtime.
Canada had a chance to prevail in overtime once again Sunday, just as it did against the U.S. in the 4 Nations and in the 2010 Winter Olympics gold medal game.
However, Columbus Blue Jackets and Team USA defenseman Zach Werenski won a crucial puck battle and sent a perfect pass to Hughes, who deposited it in the back of the net for the dramatic victory.
While Tkachuk did not record any points in Sunday's game, he helped set a physical tone by throwing several hits, along with his brother, Ottawa Senators forward Brady Tkachuk.
Matthew and Brady come from a hockey family as their father, Keith Tkachuk, recorded 538 goals and 1,065 points in 1,201 NHL games.
Keith also represented Team USA in the Olympics four times, but his best result was a silver medal at the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City.
Matthew and Brady got over the hump in Italy, though, bringing the United States only its third-ever Olympic gold medal in men's hockey.
