BS Meter on Pat McAfee, Bad Bunny and More Rumors Including WWE's Mystery Crate
Roughly a week out from WWE's 2026 edition of Elimination Chamber, there is much to discuss about the rumor mill.
It's not just buzz about who might emerge victorious in the men's and women's chamber matches, either.
No, the rumor mill saw fit to throw out buzz on big plans for names like Pat McAfee, possible character reworks for fast-rising Superstars, Chris Jericho updates and even a name like Bad Bunny, right after his big Super Bowl halftime performance.
To help fans keep pace with all the buzz, let's throw the biggest rumors on the BS Meter, with 10 being the highest form of unbelievable buzz fans can safely dismiss.
Is Chris Jericho…in the crate?
1 of 6
The Rumor
WWE started a weird thing recently with a mystery crate to be opened at a later date. According to Fightful Select (h/t Randall Ortman of Cageside Seats), the thing in the crate is not Chris Jericho.
Reaction
A hilarious report to even need to throw out, really. Jericho leaving AEW for WWE has been a hot topic for a long time now. It feels inevitable that eventually happens, as ending his career with WWE only makes sense. The when is very much up for debate, though.
BS Meter: 1
There's no way WWE meets expectations with the whole crate thing. It's going to get opened at Elimination Chamber and probably has something to do with Adam Pearce. That, or it's a misguided attempt at promoting the next WWE video game.
Pat McAfee headed for big things?
2 of 6
The Rumor
It's no secret WWE loves Pat McAfee. According to Bloomberg's Lucas Shaw, TKO CEO Ari Emanuel is "trying to turn Pat McAfee into the next Sylvester Stallone."
Reaction
Try not to laugh. McAfee has upcoming appearances on a Paramount+ show alongside Stallone. But for WWE fans, in particular, seeing the goofy podcaster and announcer and occasional wrestler as anything but what he's been portrayed as will be tough.
BS Meter: 1
Hey, it's easy to buy talent agencies and even WWE itself hopes for even bigger things for McAfee outside of wrestling. Whether that actually happens is hard to say, but the desire is probably there.
Fast-riser heading for rework?
3 of 6
The Rumor
Sol Ruca is quickly winning onlookers over. According to WrestleVotes (h/t Ortman), there's a "slight character refresh" coming for her when she makes the jump up to the main roster, though.
Reaction
Wrestling fans already knew all about Ruca thanks to NXT. The fact she managed to be a major standout at the Royal Rumble last month started to really lure in bigger audiences, too. Her ascension to the main roster for good is a matter of time.
BS Meter: 5
"Isn't broke, don't fix it" applies. Still, it's not unheard of for an NXT call-up to get a tweak or two, so perhaps something small, like new wrinkles to the entrance?
Saudi Arabia latest
4 of 6
The Rumor
Fresh off the heels of the Royal Rumble, BodySlam.net (h/t Ortman) reports that WWE will head back to Saudi Arabia near the end of June for the Night of Champions PLE.
Reaction
It is worth speculating about just how many WWE PLEs will go to Saudi Arabia in 2026. The pair of Crown Jewels usually go there. Will Night of Champions be the fourth? Or do we count Royal Rumble? Are two Crown Jewels always a lock to go over there?
BS Meter: 1
Easy enough to buy this one. WWE loves going over there and won't stop before the big WrestleMania 43 in 2027. Given the global push by the company, perhaps one of these other PLEs actually goes somewhere else overseas, though.
Bad Bunny update
5 of 6
The Rumor
All eyes on WWE after Bad Bunny's stellar Super Bowl halftime show. According to WrestleVotes Radio (h/t Ella Jay of Wresting Inc), WWE reached out about WrestleMania 42 and "positive" discussions were had.
Reaction
No word on whether Bad Bunny will make an appearance, but these things take time. Given his past in-ring performance and his overall popularity, it's no wonder fans wouldn't mind seeing him back.
BS Meter: 5
Here's the thing: This is the type of stuff either party could leak while they talk behind the scenes. It feels almost inevitable, though, after the Super Bowl, that Bad Bunny won't make some sort of appearance, no matter how small.
WrestleMania ticket sales buzz
6 of 6
The Rumor
Time for WWE to panic? According to Wrestling Observer (h/t Wrestle Ops), WrestleMania 42 ticket sales actually dipped this past week despite discounts.
Reaction
This…really shouldn't be a shocker. Last year had John Cena in a top spot as his career started to wind down. WWE foolishly decided to go back to the same city during not-great economic times, and the tickets for the two-night event are, in a word, expensive.
BS Meter: 3
We'll see if this ends up accurate and true by the time the gates open. But WWE took a major risk with the location shenanigans. It's like not having a cool-down match between two main-event-like matches to let the audience rest. And frankly, the current card is just weaker than last year's, which doesn't help.
